LAITY LODGE: Material Considerations

The Laity Lodge renovation project has obviously involved a lot of large-scale construction. But guests will actually experience the Lodge as a series of small strokes: the evocative details found in textures and colors, sounds and smells.

Inspired by the native landscape, the materials arranged here offer a representative sampling of the sensory experience of the new Lodge.

The main Lodge rooms are largely neutral: white oak walls, grey concrete floors down-stairs (grey wood floors upstairs), and white glazed-brick tile. Natural linen drapes, stone, and leather round out the rooms.

Cedar Brake shares the dark shou-sugi-ban cedar exterior siding, complemented by steel and stone. Once inside, a similarly muted palette is accented by indigo linens and dark soapstone countertops.
